It's been a long road for me... long ago, I was known on the internet as "NeoFascist?," a stereotypical republican homeschooled blogger. I have repented of my old screeds, and now try to approach matters of theology, philosophy and politics from a more free-thinking perspective. I am Neo no longer. I am jacob.thrasher.

I think the media is kind of over reacting to this. But hey, this guy actually might be able to get past the police, past the military, and past the secret service, to kill the president.

As for the subject, I strongly believe God means for Bush to continue being our leader. He will not allow this maniac to kill him. Don't worry.

Right... when have they been beating cops? And is this guy a liberal, or just a psycho?
I could just as easily justify this statement:
"Conservatives blow up clinics, stick up for evil dictators(Noriega? Saddam in the 80s?), and now one's trying to assassinate the presidential candidate."
I.E., not easily.

I'm a conservative, just like you, but trying to skew the image lefties like this is a ridiculous and unnecessary. Claiming that liberals are generally responsible for "beating cops, sticking up for evil dictators" only proves that you are stubborn and don't consider both sides of an issue. There's extremists on both ends of the spectrum. But that doesn't mean that I can say that you, being a conservative, blow up abortion clinics and beat up homosexuals.
Saying we should pray for Bush but not for Kerry is also pretty awful. I suppose you've seen this verse before, no? "But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" - Matthew 4:22
Or maybe you didn't read the article very thoroughly.
