Merry Christmas to All...

Yes, I am writing on Christmas day! And oh, how much I have to say!

Oops! You don't want me rhyming. Sorry, y'all...

Today, I hunch myself over a keyboard to wish all my faithful readers a very merry Christmas. In the spirit of the season, I give you a post and powerpoint presentation by D3 about some of the prophecies Jesus fulfilled. Go watch it, and press the arrow keys on your keyboard to scroll from slide to slide.

Also for Christmas, I decided I'd finally go vote in the Homeschooled Blog Awards... if you haven't voted, this is the last day. And don't forget to vote for me, seeing as I'm leading the most inefficient campaign ever (two posts and an IM conversation). I need some pity votes!

Here's how I voted:

Best Team/Group Homeschool Blog: The Rebelution
Best Canadian Homeschool Blog: Oneway Purpose
Best Current Events Homeschool Blog: Legal Redux
Best Homeschool Arts Blog: Rhetorical Response
Best Homeschool Blog Template Design: Fellow Random One
Best Homeschool Dad Blog: Daddy Pundit
Best Homeschool Humor Blog: Fish in my Hair
Best Homeschool Mom Blog: Guilt Free Homeschool
Best Homeschool Teen Blog: In Rejection of Mediocrity
Best Informational Homeschool Blog: The Account
Best Inspirational Homeschool Blog: Jennifer's Musings

Wow, I had more to say, but that took a while, and my computer's freaking out... I hope this gets published! More to come later... in theory...

Some things are appropriate fodder for satire (including any tradition of man), but for most people who walk out a relationhip with the Father based on the grace of his perfect sacrifice, some topics are patently offensive. This latest crosses the line; it really doesn't belong in this forum.

Thanks so much for the vote! I had thought that voting ended on like the 19th but I guess I was just eager to see how it all turned out. Can't wait for the results!

Mamba, I think you missed the point of the movie. She wasn't told by Jesus. She hit her head on the ladder and hallucianted the carpenter being Jesus.

In truth, the concept I am about to speak of may be beyond your grasp young Mamba.
The truth is, there are a few things (very few, actually), that I consider sacred, and therefore, to be revered. The very nature of Jesus as God Incarnate, the perfect sacrifice, is one of those things. Mary herself, while indeed blessed among women, is not, in my opinion, to be revered (though millions would disagree with me).
The Immaculate Conception, however, bears directly on the provenance of the perfect sacrifice, and therefore, is inviolate.
There is a certain grief that is sparked in my spirit (another concept probably beyond your grasp) whenever I see Him despised enough to be the fodder of common humor. The fact that movies and other media have been produced which "trample the pearls" is really no reason at all to perpetuate the desecration. In truth, God the father, and Jesus the Son, are indeed beyond actual harm from any such buffoonery; the grief is actually for a society at large that views the one true chance for redemption with such contempt.
After reading this blog and the comments for quite some time, I am a bit surprised to be the only one who takes sufficient umbrage with your joke to make comment upon it.

Pardon me for forgetting your maturity level...
the very statement "nothing is beyond my grasp" is telling in and of itself. Actually, there is bilbical precedence for such a statement, but it won't concern you. Suffice it to say that, besides being exceedingly worn and tired, the Santa/Satan comparison is nothing, as Santa is tradition, and nothing more. Coke had more to do with propagating/creating the Santa thing than anyone else.
"Despise" is a word with multiple meanings; the usage I was reffering to was "to consider something of little or no value; to esteem lightly".
At any rate, I should not be surprised by your lack of understanding; your concept of the value of ANYTHING (as defined by your statements on your blog as well as your comments elsewhere), is shallow at best. I hope you find meaning somewhere, because all you have now is empty, pale, and poor.

I don't think he did. He isn't albino any more, either. He got a tan. And I don't think pokemon was any sort of revenge. I think the Japanese are just really brilliant and know how to exploit American children's need to be trendy and fit it.

Wow, you guys get more off the subject than I do. My dad is 1/2 Japanese, hence my weird last name. I have no good excuse for my first name.

I'm guessing Neo's computer died.

Favor to ask: watch your tongue (and subject matter)? I enjoy reading this blog, but almost dread reading the comments.

Thank you, Coie! I can't always be around to fix problems when they arise, so I'd appreciate it if you and those who agree with you would speak up when comments get out of hand.

I hate to do this, but I think I'm gonna turn on Comment Moderation, and enforce the rules more strictly. Again, I don't want to do it, but I have to now. At least for a while.

"I have no good excuse for my first name."

Haha! I had been wondering... How is it pronounced? I assumed that it's pronounced like Chloe, only without the "l"...

Reggie,

Same to you! Glad to hear from you again.

Your guess at the pronunciation of my strange name is correct. Chloe without the "l". My aunt would put it: "CO---WEEEEEE....not COW---EE". :)

From the Black Mamba, on the Narnia thread:

COMMENT ONE

"Clive, be for real. They wanted to make oodles and... Clive, be for real. They wanted to make oodles and oodles of money. I like the optimism, though."

"I read the book in fourth grade. I hardly remember it, though. I remember a bunch of kids jump into a wardrobe. There is something to do with a sword, right? Maybe they kill a lion with the sword, yeah? Then they have to travel across Narnia to sit on some throwns for some reason....? I also rememember that my teacher bought us these things called "Turkish Gum Drops" or "Turkish Jellies" or something Turkish like that. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the story. Did they eat those? Whatever. They were really good though, I think you can buy them at Sams Club around Christmas, but they are called something else. All the "AR" (Accelerated Reading) computer tests on Narnia books were pretty much the same. So, I read only one book all throughout 4th grade, whereas everyone else read like 5....suckers."

"Hey, if cussing is that big of an issue, then you can turn off your comment moderation and I won't cuss anymore. When you not only allowed my linked picture of a soldier saying, "Shut the _____ up" stay, but you also commented on it like it was funny, I assumed that it wasn't a big deal. Of course I disagree strongly with censorship. Even the smallest bit of censorship is bad because it causes people to lose their right to express their individual opinions in their own way. The three paragraphs which I just wrote doesn't sound like me. It isn't me! Hey, I should write a post on this. Thanks for the inspiration!"

COMMENT TWO

"I don't expect you to post this as a comment. Just... I don't expect you to post this as a comment. Just read all of it. My last comment was constructive, to the point, and for the most part on topic with "Narnia". There was no reason for it to be censored. I am clueless as to what the issue is. But if it is that much of an issue to you all, then I wont even write even the most remote of "vulgar" words or go off topic. I can live with censorship of things like cuss words, but the censoring of something because one disagrees with it is absolutely ridiculous and inacceptable. Don't be. It is not the fact that my comment isn't on here. Only about 10 or 20 people would have seen it....not a big deal. It would make them even think much about anything at all. It's the point. Just because probobly a majority of your readers reject an idea which strays from their own beliefs or what they consider "acceptable" doesn't mean that my idea is worth any less that all of their ideas. This "anonymous" person has made stabs at me regarding my parents, values, maturity, religious choices, intelligence, education and life choices (just to name a few). So, is it acceptable (on this blog and with Christianity...since this person is apparantely such an evangelist!) to take strong and potentially hurtful personal cuts at someone? I was a Christian until this summer, and I know the answer. So all that which I just discussed is fine and acceptable, but I can't write anything that anyone disagrees with, or use moderately strong words like "hell" and "biatch"? I'm not pissed off or even offended. That person has a right to express what they think about me. Although their assumptions are completely wrong, and I disagree with what they are saying, it is their voice and they have a right to use it. I may argue with them, but I would never tell them that it is inacceptable to think that of me. I don't expect for you to post this as a comment, I only want for you to read it."

"Anyway, my really close friends are spread out all across North America and I haven't felt well for the past two days. That is why I've been online so much lately and straying from the point. I'm bored and have nothing better to do. I'm not apologizing, I'm just saying. Two of my good friends from Rome are back in town, so I'm going to have so much fun tommorow!"

"PS: I lost my consolation match horribly, and he wasn't even that good. He was actually a horrible pusher....HORRIBLE. I have mucho improving to do, still. I guess I'll see you Thursday!"

Black Mamba,

I wasn't censoring your ideas at all, and I thank you for watching your langauge. The reason I have not yet posted that comment of yours is simply the final paragraph. That paragraph is not offensive, but it is off topic, and I was afraid it would spark yet another off-topic discussion about a subject that has already been driven into the ground. That is why I have not yet posted it; and yes, I would appreciate it if you would avoid even "remotely" vulgar words; I know you're smarter than that.

I would like to briefly address a couple of points. What I say here is all I will say on the subject, because I don't want to re-ignite an old argument. Not, at least, until I can create a thread to devote to it.

Firstly, most of my readers are not going to reject an idea simply because it strays from their own beliefs; that, in and of itself, is on the very same level as the "hurtful personal cuts" that you have accused Anonymous of making. My readers are not unthinking individuals; if they were, then I would imagine they would not even be here, seeing as I make it a point to discourage unthinking commentors.

You are free to write things we disagree with... all I ask is that it be free of vulgarity, and for the most part on topic. I believe that Anonymous has already made the case against using vulgarity in other threads, and I agree with him/her wholeheartedly.

One last point now...

You have accuse Anonymous of making assumptions about you. But have they really? How you present yourself is how you will be perceived; therefore, if you present yourself as an individual who usually has trouble staying on topic and away from vulgarity, how can you object when someone draws the conclusion that you are weak-minded and vulgar? Again, you are perceived as you portray yourself; Anonymous made no (or few) assumptions, only (or mostly) observations based on your behavior. If you had conducted yourself in real life the way you have on your blog, could you blame anyone who saw you for reaching the same conclusions Anonymous has?

Anyways... Thanks for articulating your opinion. I hope this clears a few things up.

Neo
