whoa....the conversation kept going...and going...*brain implodes*

and whoever said that about private-school kids...it's just people judging what they do not know. just because our families pay for our education does not mean we are rich and stuck-up...then again, does it matter what others think, Black Mamba? Give people who think we're prats a rest, I know how you feel.

Well, I guess it was a good guess about Neo's mom, but it was totally wrong. I am, however, someone close enough to Neo and his family to know a little bit about him. I try to stay abreast of his (and other young floks) cyber life, because I think that it offers unique insight into what is really going on in the mind of him, you, and other youth in my kids world. I believe I would be remiss if I didn't try to stay current. My job as a parent is the most important thing I do, and attempting to pass on accumulated wisdom/knowledge without being stifling requires that I be cognizant of everything I possibly can. For the record, you've shown me that you're a lot smarter than I originally gave you cretdit for, and also you are honorable about your friendship with Neo.
Kudos.

I go to Unity Christian School, but a lot of the kids that are there don't act like they're Christians, and most of them come from public schools. A lot of them want to go back. Christain clubs or whatever are considered uncool, sadly.

Ahh yes, meeoric dust, that was you. I wasn't being a smart ass; I really didn't know what you were talking about. For all I know there's a whole section of meeoric dust in Answers in Genesis.com? Maybe it’s their term for Angel dust. Not the kind you smoke but the kind that angels leave behind when creating false dinosaur bones in order to test our faith.

Anyway, it figures you would do such a thing to ensure the last word.

Now if your scenario was based on facts only, and what you perceived to be the situation was indeed the situation, then there is nothing to be debated. If that is your argument you might as well said a man is punching a baby in the face, you have a baseball bat, what do you do? Of course there is only one answer for that but in your scenario you said that there was a guy lying on the ground "that you ASSUME to be her husband". That to me means that we are dealing with uncertainties. And if that part is an uncertainty then what else is uncertain assuming you have only witnessed the situation for a split second.

If I knew the family, or knew the attacker to be a rapist then of course I would shoot, assuming the family wasn't going to get in the way, which is another thing you and your readers didn't take into consideration, although, I am sure you are all excellent marksman.

Black Mamba Swede:

I was obviously generalizing about the social skills but when he attacks by Public School education what am I left with? From my experience the people whom I have met that where home schooled are self centered, weird, conceited and don't realize that the world doesn't revolve around them and awkward socially, and for some reason know a whole lot about one subject like dinosaurs or trains. That’s my experience, maybe Neo isn't like that but he is definitely conceited so I am left to fill in the blanks. Apparently the subjects he knows about don’t involve liberal theories or “meeoric dust”.

LOL I never dissed your education, Mamba! I said "Wouldn't that be funny? A little private schooler fighting a little homeschooler?"

And the "sister" thing was a joke, with you having already called us siblings. But who cares really; she was rude anyway.

Toad,

"Ahh yes, meeoric dust... I really didn't know what you were talking about."

Then you're dumber than I gave you credit for, seeing as I correctly spelled "meteoric" in the same comment, probably even the same paragraph.

"Anyway, it figures you would do such a thing to ensure the last word."

Sure. Why would I allow you to have the last word, since you were bound to continue your pattern of comments based on ad hominem attacks, red herrings, and illogic? My opponents have had the last word in many debates, even here on my blog; that's because they all made good, respectful cases which were grounded in logic. You haven't done that yet.

"If I knew the family, or knew the attacker to be a rapist then of course I would shoot, assuming the family wasn't going to get in the way, which is another thing you and your readers didn't take into consideration, although, I am sure you are all excellent marksman."

And more of your failure to even interpret words on a screen. This is why I closed the last thread; you can't even interpret the things you've read, including the comments of my readers.

"Of course there is only one answer for that but in your scenario you said that there was a guy lying on the ground 'that you ASSUME to be her husband'. That to me means that we are dealing with uncertainties. And if that part is an uncertainty then what else is uncertain assuming you have only witnessed the situation for a split second."

If the thug has a history of violence, does it matter if the first victim was related to the family? Oh wait, it could have been a family with kids attacking a gay man, right? And he killed the father? Yeah, and if you have to make a split decision, that's definitely the most probable scenario... And it perfectly explains why the man was holding an unarmed mother and children at knifepoint.

"From my experience the people whom I have met that where home schooled are self centered, weird, conceited and don't realize that the world doesn't revolve around them and awkward socially, and for some reason know a whole lot about one subject like dinosaurs or trains."

And praytell, how many homeschoolers have you met? Or, God forbid, gotten to know? Sure, there are kids like that that are homeschooled; it's sad that some turn out that way. However, you neglect to mention all the public-schooled individuals who turn out the same way, and for some reason don't know a lot about ANY subject, not necessarily through their own failure, but the failure of the system.

"That’s my experience, maybe Neo isn't like that but he is definitely conceited so I am left to fill in the blanks."

Oh, and your little public-schooled self has never seemed conceited in all your wise and logical life, right? I don't quite see how I am conceited, besides some joking posts I've written about blog awards, and since this criticism is coming from you of all people, it deserves relatively little credence. After all, generalizations, ad hominem attacks and red herrings are the only tactics you've used to bolster your arguments thus far, so why should any of us begin to believe you now?

"Apparently the subjects he knows about don’t involve liberal theories or “meeoric dust”."

I'm still waiting for you to prove that. Logically.

On second thought, nevermind. I've given you enough chances, and wasted enough time. I'm always up for a debate, but your illogical, sheltered, aggressive and often off-topic flames hardly constitute debate. I welcomed Seanny's comments, and LoneAmigo's, and Black Mamba's, and those of any other Liberal who happens to be passing through, but that's because they understand basic rules of debate and persuasion which you, Toad, cannot seem to grasp.

Toad, you're as welcome here as anyone else, but if you don't shape up, that could easily change. I'm beginning to grow weary of staving off your various smokescreen tactics in hopes of you making a valid and logical point. As I have said many times now, please stop taking out your anger on me, and those like me. We're not the ones who wronged you. If you'd try letting go of your resentment, just for a little while, you might find you get along a little better with the rest of the world.

Just so everyone knows, there is a strong language warning on that pic that Mamba linked to.

Somewhat funny... yet crude. And it makes no sense to have a soldier on the pic, does it? LOL I dunno.

"I think that the preppy private school kid would absolutely slaughter the homeschooled bug freak. I actually bet a lot of people would pay to see a private school kid and a homeschooled kid get bloodied up. Or rather, to see a private school kid bloodie up a homeschooled kid. HA"

Eh, so long as the homeschooled bug freak can still absolutely slaughter the preppy private school kid on the tennis court. ;-P

And here we go with the changing of the subject again...

The place in life that people attain is influenced more than anything by the cumulative total of choices that one makes. Some things are almost exclusively a positive choice (ie; obtaining a good education, maintaining an appropriate diet, refusing to hang with people who make bad choices, etc.), Some choices are at best somewhat negative, most totally negative, with potential for catastrophic results, and absolutely no positive potential. Consumption of alcohol, especially early in life, is one of these choices. Most of the readers in this forum are young people who make the right choices, and really respect and honor others who are able to resist the call of the world enough to value abstinence. The young people who are too weak to resist are to be pitied.
