Paying Respect

On Saturday, Pope John Paul II died at age 84. As the world mourns, the College of Cardinals is preparing to elect a successor. Here is an interesting article on potential successors.

Although I'm obviously not Catholic, I feel that JPII was a great man who took a strong stance on important cultural issues. May he rest in peace.

Yes, God forbid they should choose someone you don't completely agree with.

Chinnypea,

That's a good idea. I think I'll call the Vatican and see if they have any room left on the ballot; I find the prospect of being the Pope quite exhilerating! Haha, it would be neat to see a non-Catholic Pope. It would also be quite funny! But alas, I don't think I stand a chance; the competition seems tough this year.

Couldn't agree more. This was the only Western leader to activly fight against Bush's invasion of Iraq.

He met with Yasser Arafat ten times. He taveled to Castro's Cuba and opposed the unjust 40 yr economic blockade of Cuba. He always felt the need for international law and the UN over America as a world policeman.

Rest in Peace Karol Wojtyla
