San Fran Gay Marraiges Nullified!

In a 5-2 decision, the California Supreme Court nullified the same-sex marriages performed in San Francisco. Though the ruling didn't address the issue of the constitutionality of same-sex marriages, it did set a good precedent. Skipping the legislative process, the mayor of San Francisco had begun allowing same-sex marriages, but the courts struck back in favor of democracy.

Since the FMA is for the moment incapacitated, a ruling like this is great for the pro-straight crowd. Now if only someone would do something about Massachusetts...

Pro-straight? It's not pro-straight: it doesn't help straight people in any way, only hurting gays. I'm straight, and I think this is a huge step back for human rights. Opposing gay marriage is just like opposing interacial marriage. The same people are doing it: the conservatives.

Would you support banning interacial marriage if the majority of people opposed it?

What makes marriage a "sacred thing"? Marriage dates back to before Christianity, and even if it was prohibited by the bible (which it's not: read it again), there's a little thing called "Seperation of Church and State" that is vital to any democracy.
The Bible doesn't dictate the law. The Government does.

Who are you to decide what is degenerate the family? I don't feel that gays being married will in anyway degenerate my family. It simply won't affect it. Why should it? How can it? etc.?

The simple fact is that banning gay marriage is preventing gays from living their lives freely. If you want to defend freedom, really defend it.

Anyway... I'm sorry about the bible thing. I should check my facth next time
