Neo currently indisposed
Hello readers,
Neo's wacky counterpart here.......
just a quick note to tell you all that Neo is currently recovering from an appendectomy, performed this morning. Everything went great, Laproscopic procedure was sufficient. Heck, they even super-glued him shut, so he can shower today!
I expect him to go home tomorrow, with some sort of quirky observations forthcoming about his first experiences with CT scans, morphine, etc.
Praise God for taking care of him, with good doctors and procedures,
be blessed, yall.

May God heal you swiftly, Neo.
My younger brother had an appendectomy about 6 months ago; it wasn't pleasant.
You have my prayers for your recovery.
Rumpelteazer you pissed me off because you put words in my mouth - you claimed I said that I thought public schooled kids were dumb. I've never said that nor do I think it.
Coming here like this and lying is not very nice. Shame on you.
Neo - I hope that you are feeling 100% soon. Take care of yourself.
I see that you have made a habit of this accusation of yours. The accusation that homeschoolers think public/private schooled kids are 'dumb'.
You had quite a thread going on at your own site about this very same issue but with another person.
It's time to grow up girl.
Sheesh, guys! Take your personal arguments somewhere else!
Neo, I hope you recover quickly. I had an appendectomy when I was 10; it wasn't that much fun. My youth group and I will be praying that your recovery time is quick.
P.S. Who is "Not Neo"???
Sending positive thoughts your way, kid. Hope you feel better soon!
"Who is Not Neo?"
Neo's Wacky counterpart. :D
Thank you all for your concern, prayers, and positive thoughts. The surgery went great, and I'm finally home (although somewhat medicated).
For those who were wondering, Neo's Wacky Counterpart was my dad. He came home to rest, and he also wrote this post while he was home.
Hopefully I will be able to resume my blogging duties soon.
MonicaR,
Ah, I see you've met Why To Not Public/Private School Your Child, Exhibit A. Don't worry, she's been doing this kind of thing ever since she started blogging. If you check out Ignite the Fire blog (on my sidebar), you can read more of her conversations; her bigotry toward homeschoolers is astounding.
"it's going to be your kids when they are 18 still sitting at home taught by mommy that will need to grow up."
Oh, so THAT'S why homeschoolers consistently score higher on tests, get into better colleges, and get better jobs than their public/private school counterparts! They all need to grow up!
Of course, she says all this about "growing up" right after she tells you "I dont care if I piss you off..."
Very mature indeed.
I'm glad to see someone else has noticed her unfortunate habit of putting words into others' mouths, and then lying about it on other blogs. That seems to be her only debate tactic. If all else fails, she may accuse you of hating her.
She is entitled to her own opinion. She is not entitled to unruly behavior. I do hope she learns the difference between the two.
Should we thank God for the timely successful surgical procedure and pray for a speedy recovery for you, Neo; or should we hope for a random series of accidents that happen in such a way as to cause you to be better in a short time and, also, thank you for your contribution (the removal of a completely unnecessary organ) to the evolutionary process that may, in some day and time in the far future, evolve into a human who no longer has an appendix? Or not?
well thank u neo. u know your REALLY annoying. i thought i'd let u know i told whitney everything u ever sai dabout her. buying the earrings and then not giving them to her, saying she was drop dead gorgeous, and saying you wanted to kiss her-she knows it all. and she said it was mean that you didnt give her a christmas present and she gave you one. how rude. and maybe you should get your facts straight Monica is the one who said i pissed her off. and to tell you the truth i dont give a u know what.
gah you take things to personally neo. you guys act like its the end of the world if i dont agree Neo. who you guys worship like he's God or something.
Rumpelteazer,
It would be very nice if you would actually get your facts straight about what I said. But I don't think that's going to happen. You'd far rather lie (as others here have seen you do) than do anything remotely honorable.
Even now I am debating whether to delete your distorted, slanderous comment, or to allow it to stay, so as to let you make more of a fool of yourself.
As for Whitney, if she wants to know the truth, she'll come to me to find out what I really said. You've proven time and again that you can't tell the truth, and she'd be blind not to see that.
Please avail yourself of some counsel.....you seem a little out of sorts.
Neo! So happy to see that you are back in action again! God bless you and thanks to your dad for letting us know what was going on.
I apologize for stirring the pot here earlier with Rumpelteazer.
We all need to just let this go and move on. I liked the comment from jcadla about the appendix - I thought it was clever!
Look, Rumpelteazer… you need to calm down.
Nobody is suggesting that you are “dumb”.
Nobody is suggesting that homeschooling versus attending a public/private school will ‘a priori’ turn out “smarter” kids.
The fact is, public schools are notorious for extremely poor educational standards. Furthermore, public schools serve primarily to indoctrinate students into the particular secularist philosophies of the government.
By homeschooling, parents ensure that their children receive a “proper” (and Biblically-sound) education… without the interference of the state.
Finally, your point about homeschooling parent’s lack of educational materials and educational college degrees is simply nonsense. There are plenty of resources available for homeschoolers… many private schools offer a host of “lab” courses structured to enable homeschooler’s attendance. My younger brother participated in a biology and chemistry class at a private school for a year; it’s a practice that is increasingly common.
There is a relevant quote in the first chapter of Gordon Clark’s book, “A Christian Philosophy of Education”: “Those who can, do; those who cannot, teach; those who cannot teach, teach Education.” Nowhere is this more true than in public schools.
S. Lewis
Stephen -
I have long been offended by the quote you mention. I can do many things. I choose to teach. I am also an adjunct professor of education.
I agree, we have many problems with the educational system. We have many problems with the government. Should that be disolved as well? Had there been no public school system, I would not be able to respond to your post with any eloquence at all, thoug pardon my spelling, I am dyslexic. Education standards are low in public school, I agree. Why not attack the problem rather than the entire system? If you really want to do something, homeschool your kid and start a grass-roots education movement.
Though I teach in public school, I plan on homeschooling my kids. I knwo that sounds like a contradiction, but it's not. I believe that you should homeschool your kids if you can afford it and can stay home. If you can't be at home, send them to private school or hire a tutor. If you can't do either, aren't you lucky there is some system in place to educate your child, even if it is flawed? I'm trying to improve things from the inside for the time being.
Homeschoolers, I believe, are better educated, have great relationships with their parents, and are often more mature and respectful than other children. But other children have the right to an education, too.
>>>we have many problems with the educational system. We have many problems with the government. Should that be disolved as well?
There is a primal difference between education and government. All would agree that government is essentially parasitic. That is, it only exists because man is incapable of living justly without the impetus of punishment to keep him on his toes. Hence, government.
Education is somewhat different. Education is primarily positive, the incubation of ideas that serve to enhance and direct a person’s life. Naturally, theories of education are dependant on one’s ‘welterschaaung’, or worldview. What is worth studying? What is knowledge? What is true? What is right? What is the purpose of abstract mathematical principles? How does science explain the world? On and on…
The fact is, one CANNOT teach without instilling a sense of morality and ethics. Secularist philosophies of the federal public schools are self-destructive, nihilistic, and self-contradicting. And if this wasn’t bad enough, the ENTIRE purpose of the public school system, a la John Dewey, serves only to indoctrinate its students in collective ignorance… creating them into little puppet-slaves of the state. Harsh language, but read some of Dewey’s seminal works on education, and you will see that they are entirely justified.
Remember, Americans prior to Dewey were extremely well educated. I don’t know the statistics, but if you do a search for the level of mathematical/verbal skills that middle-school students were expected to exhibit 150-200 years ago, you will be blown away.
Where were they educated? At home, and by private schools operated by the Church. What were the origins of Yale, Harvard, Princeton, and the like? Biblical colleges founded and run by theologians. These theologians understood that it is CRUCIAL to ground education firmly on Biblical standards. Their level of education has yet to be equaled, let alone surpassed by the finest American schools today.
The early Christian standards of education need to be re-instated today: privatized, localized, and Biblically-solid.
S. Lewis
Well, Neo, you can take the red pill... or the blue pill. Actually, take both, and call the doctor in the morning.
Get well soon!
Education is only positive if whsat is being taught is positive. The idea is to read everything, study everything, and decide for yourself what is worth knowing. If you think your church will educate your kid for free, by all means, send them there. Poor people only have the option of public education. It may be crucial to you to ground education in Biblical standards, but as I believe the Bible is invalid, it is not crucial to me.
Hey, Neo! Glad to see you're back! ^_^
Polanco - we're poor! You do what you have to do. There are many options and one can be found to suit just about anyone's circumstances.
Are you welfare, single mother, no health insurance, making $300 dollars a week, poor? I understand that you do what you have to do, but there are parents who don't care. Should heir kids not have the opportunity for an education because their parents are too drunk, high, sick, etc. to give a damn about what happends to them?
You should have avoided the hospital, you know, where they practice all those evils of science, and just prayed.
Or maybe you could have gotten on TV with one of those faith healers like Benny Hill or whatever his name is.
I never knew you had so much faith in science.
Science is great, Toad...
It's conjecture about what MIGHT happen IF things were a certain way that I tend to distrust.
Absolutely well put, Neo. I wondered when "Sunshine" would re-appear to share his joyful demeanor with us, the unenlightened.
"Are you welfare, single mother, no health insurance, making $300 dollars a week, poor? I understand that you do what you have to do, but there are parents who don't care."
No - We're just poor. Being poor doesn't mean being a drug addict who doesn't care about your kids.
I think you must have meant that there needs to be public education for people who don't give shit about their kids. Is that what you meant?
That's what I meant. Sorry for the confusion. Love ya, Lady!
Where's the vulger language?
Sweetie, the most vulgar thing is that you can't seem to form a complete, grammatically correct, and well-spelled sentence.
I apologize for using the 'sh' word. My bad.
Polanco I think the way I feel about public education is that it ought to be a good thing. I don't know that what we have can be fixed. Abolish the Department of Education - get the Feds out of it for one.
It would be good for all kids to be educated no matter who they are or what type of situation they come from. When I was coming up we - at the very least - knew how to read and perform basic math functions. I feel bad for the kids. They deserve better. And I don't think that a cookie cutter type of system helps many.
Monica,
I agree. The system in't working, and I'm working on that, believe me. I don't know if abolishing the Department would work. I think, like most European countries, we need Nationalized Education, or at least National Standards.
Rump,
There are several problems, and though I apologize for being so rude, in an earlier post you mention that people are calling you stupid, and yet your sentence structure does nothing to prove your point, that public education may have it's issues, but it has treated you just fine. Would you really want your teachers to see what you have written. You use your and you're in the wrong places, and your reply to my last post, you have several framents and badly formed sentences. My point: If you are going to argue for public education, make sure you present a good example.
Cleo -
I am a woman, not a "dude".
Isn't "hell" as vulger as "damn"? If no, why?
*snort* LOL!
That's okay, rump. I refuse to debate with a child.
No, Neo is a young adult. You are a child. There is a rather large difference, and that is all I am willing to say on the subject.
I guess my answer would be: I'm stuffed up.
Well, I must say certain people on here are slightly prone to vulgar language and fallacious ideas and not to mention quick to anger...
Is this the best kind of conversation that people on here can be involved in? Has it ever been good or at least interesting and clean?
